Please include your full name, age, and location with your inquiry. June 02, 2006Inquiry Number One In what capacity can young adults most effectively serve during this Devi Tide's Answer Go to the core of the change and lend your support. There is an awakening that is happening in humanity, to the experience of our united Self and what it is - an awakening of both consciousness and conscience. Throughout time there have been those who have worked to support that awakening. The way to join in this work is to begin. The awakening happens first within your own self. As a byproduct of that awakening one is able to contribute to the awakening of others. Here are three practices you can do: -At the times in your life, when you are noticing the surface of things (where we all seem to be seperate people in a world of seperate objects), treat your self with kindness and think of your self with kindness. When you have that down it will be easy to treat all those you meet with kindness. This is how to alter the shape of the outer world. -At the times in your life when you are aware of your personality and it's quirks and your life and it's challenges, you could view those quirks and challenges, allowing space for all that you are and do, and having the attitude that the answers will be there, feeling/having faith in the path of your life. If you can do this, you could notice the personalities of those you meet remembering that each of us is doing the best we can in the life we have been given. Internally you could wish each person well as you meet them, feeling/having faith that they can live a good life, filled with health, happiness, harmony and peace. This is how to alter the shape of the mind world. -A third step would be to look a little deeper, behind your personality to your soul, noticing its glory, or look to the depth of your heart where there is an infinite healing presence. How do you do this. Be
Dear Todd, All of us come here with a purpose that is unique to our soul, and the most effective way to serve is to discover that purpose and pursue it. Because our western society has strayed so far from a natural way of life, this unique purpose, or special gift, usually has not been recognized or acknowledged by our families and teachers. Often it has been actively stifled. There are three things that come to my mind regarding the discovery of one’s purpose in life;- One is to “Follow your bliss” that is to interact with life and make all your decisions based on your heart rather than your mind. This means listening to your intuition. But due to the way we’ve been brought up, many of us are out of touch with our intuition, so Spiritual practices can help strengthen the intuition and open the Heart. Sometimes taking a retreat can help you get in touch with your soul’s deeper purpose. But due to early childhood trauma and even ancestral conditioning many of us have inner obstacles that prevent us from fully experiencing the mystical states of meditation, so This is where Sacred Fire offers some assistance. The Being of Fire enters into human affairs to help us bring back the heart/hearth warmth that has been lacking. Discovering and fulfilling your purpose in life cannot be done in isolation, it requires the context of a community or tribe… as a group we need to be exploring some different ways of being together, - the Sacred Fire Community is being guided to gather around the Fire and to make offerings in a particular way, and a great deal of information is coming through, about simplifying life and returning to some of the ancient ways. Well Todd, I’m answering your question from the context of my own Life, and perhaps you are gathering that I am deeply involved in two communities that happen to be very compatible with each other. They have similar goals – both are about awakening the heart. We live in a time when the calls for help are coming from all directions, and it is imperative to know what your unique gift is or you risk being overwhelmed. As Inayat Khan has said “Balance is the keynote of today’s message “ Blessings to you, Shams Kairys' Answer Your term "global transition" could refer to a number of different processes now in motion on the planet. As I don't know your particular meaning, I will respond regarding two transitional streams that I feel are particularly germane to your question, and that interact with each other in compelling ways. The first is the growing awareness of the interwoven wholeness of life on the planet. Holistic thinking is becoming more and more evident amongst those interested in spiritual awakening, and it is slowly entering the larger corporate, government and civic arenas. The second is the growing devastation of the environment and intensified global warming. It is quite likely that your generation will see massive systemic disruptions around the planet, with potentially devastating effects for many people and other life forms. In the face of these two realities, I think young people can best serve by developing the capacity to hold both clearly in view, so that they inform each other synergistically. In this light, your daily actions and choices will become a difficult but lively practice wherein your consciousness expands while your ecological footprint shrinks. You will become a voice for life and sanity, challenging narrow, dualistic thinking, and demonstrating kinder ways of living. Your personal decisions about critical resources--what you eat, how you travel, the number of children you have--will be informed by consideration of the total global environment. Your awareness of interconnection may lead you to invent new ways to conserve energy or restore natural systems or reduce population growth. You will become a living embodiment of a new way of being, and illuminate the path for many to follow.
