Anecdotes
Please submit anecdotes of approximately 500 words on the theme of
Conception between now and November 30, 2006. Anecdotes will be posted
on a rolling basis. Please make sure all Anecdotes are your own
personal accounts, and have some type of mystical relevance. Send to
anecdotes@saffronjournal.org.
We will accept anecdotes on our theme Incubation through
February 28, 2007, and then on the theme Birth through May 31, 2007.
I find it difficult to speak of conception as a point in time or a moment of my personal history. I cannot trace a beginning to my life, since I feel it has only just begun. Neither can I divide it into various sections labelled "beginning" and "end." So I will just share some words by Rabbi David A. Cooper, which have opened my eyes a little wider to the great story of which we are a part.
"Our lives, and the universe itself, are balanced on scales that measure deeds, words, and thoughts. Everything can turn on a word. A momentary thought can set a new spin to the universe. Each deed has the capacity to alter fate. Thus, the incredible drama that unfolds in each moment is awesome, for we never know what lies ahead. This mystical teaching is epitomized in conception, the archetype of newness."
May we all aspire to step into each moment with innocence and attend to the soft whisper at the edge of our thoughts.
